Draws

Draw Systems

In 2016 the Vision Competitions were run on Initial Round Seeding draws detailed below. We will be moving to Repechage (Winners' and Lower Brackets) draws for the 2017 season.

Repechage draws offer a fairer and clearer tournament for all at the expense of taking a couple of extra rounds to complete.

Full Double Elimination Repechage (Winners' and Lower Brackets)

All competitors start in the Winners' Bracket and drop into the Lower Bracket on their first loss. This ensures that all competitors have to be defeated twice before being eliminated whilst also removing the need for round robins entirely in divisions larger than 3.

1 Gold, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze

Initial Round Seeding

Competitors are ensured at least two rounds by featuring in the seeding round. Winners from the seeding round face losers in the first elimination round. A loss at any point after the seeding round results in elimination.

1 Gold, 1 Silver and 2 Bronzes (where possible)

Elimination Bracket

Competitors compete in an Elimination Bracket from Round 1. Competitors can lose after their first round with no second chance. This is a faster way to run competitions but unfair without pre-tournament seeding.

1 Gold, 1 Silver and 2 Bronzes (where possible)

Pool Play

Competitors compete in pools with the top 2 competitors progressing into a traditional elimination bracket. This can take much longer as the various combinations within pools can take a long time to progress through before reaching the elimination bracket.

1 Gold, 1 Silver and 2 Bronzes (where possible)

Single League

Competitors compete in a giant league, competing against every other competitor once. Placings are then determined on the number of wins, draws and losses amongst the competitors, with play-offs required if competitors end up on equal points.

This system would take far too long to complete our competitions in a week let alone a day.

1 Gold, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze
